you do not have to be skinny to view this blog, the title is for coolness only

i am a seventeen year old girl living in melbourne. i go to a rare school that allows me to do three fashion subjects which is mad cool. i do my best to make the most of every moment and try to push myself outside of my comfort zone, gosh i hate that word. screw smoking and sleeping around, i don't want the clap or tuberculosis. i am happy with my health, my friends, my fam, cat and tidy light blue bedroom with roses and leather on the walls. i admire russell brand's charisma, justin bieber's voice, t-pain in general and my cat bok choy for being so flexible that he can lick his own privates. oh and my name's karista

Theatrical Face Art

Art tells a story no matter what kind of medium it is created upon, and that includes the face. It is like a blank canvas. And that is what makes a great model, having a versatile face that can be dramatically transformed to appear completely different according to each designer's personal look for their shows etc. I find this so fascinating, simply the idea of makeup being some kind of identity/character shifter. It sounds like so much fun... and it is! That's one reason why I am so glad to be a girl.
We just wanna have fun!

to conclude: I must declare that although this final photograph may not display the most extreme eye makeup, the simplicity of the bare face with the solid blood orange eye lids combined with the fierce mess of an up-do and the giant patent black leather bow... screams radical! It might even be more eye catching to me than the rest. Opulent?

I say, wizard.

The Black Lip Experiment

Inspired by the following:

My try, using mascara and eye liner to replace lipstick:

I had fun making sure I documented my black lip experiment to the best of my ability and creativity. Thank you dearly, my friend Photo Booth

Half Moon: Personal Attempt

Here's my go at the half moon.
I used sticky tape instead of the proper stickers so it isn't very curved like it's supposed to be but I do my best with what I got. One day I will discover a nail parlour that specialises in my favourite mani! The day shall eventually arrive, and Oh! It shall be a momentous one!

Lanvin Love

Cannot get over Lanvin's Resort 2011 Collection, utterly fresh!
My personal favourite. Of course the of-the-moment all famous toga style with the model on the right. I adore the gentle frills and those giant necklaces! I'm unsure how you would describe this incredible style. Well I see the headscarves and they are done in sort of pirate fashion but they are pitch black so that I believe creates an entire new look on its own. Almost like a modern take on a nun. The dresses speak elegance with a beam of pretty. Now don't get me started on those accessories! They look to me like grenades slash contemporary hearts, or technologic hearts even. Perfect subtle yet stunning odd shoes.
Okay so what have I drawn from this? We've got a graceful, 21st century religious pirate nun who is a warrior of love fighting for independence. Probably just my strange imagination but that's my take on things.

Arbitrary words that come to me when looking at this:
Retro, Sheek, Rebel, Elegance, Fierce, Pretty, Holy, Hardcore, Chapel, Chic, Xena.

You may have your own take on these, if I write another crazy description kind of thing then ima be late for VET fashion class which starts in 11 minutes.. oh boy, I gonna be late anyways. Well doesn't that just show the loyalty I have for Thin & Bones? Or maybe just my irresponsibility forwards my education?... Hmm.

Possibly a soft gothic feel, I can see her running in slow motion through the morning lit streets of Paris clutching her skirt firmly in her hands to raise it from the ground. Extravagant, Dramatic and Theatrical!
Would you care for a poolside drink, Sex On The Beach perhaps? Yeah baby! Oh wow, the tiredness of staying up last night watching Fight Club is overwhelming me. Bad idea 'cos now I am talking crazy. What an exuberant hue, same one used in the S/S'10 collection. Just adore it.
So classy and fun, pretty and a stand-out look. St-hunning! (sung Susan Boyle-style)  Yeah, unbelievable colour, fuchsia and hot pink on the feet to go. Great chunky necklace, what a statement! What does it say to you?
I saved another stunning black number for last. I just love the declaration that an honest black outfit can make. I'd say; sexy, misbehaving co-worker that wears her sunglasses 24/7 (including while working in her office cubical) with a cigar between her fingers. Makes the guys laugh histerically all day with her great impersonations of Al Pacino and Tony Soprano. Constantly gets called in to her boss' office for slacking off and distracting everyone around her.
I think we all know why she remains employed there at Sunshine Newspaper.
Oh that neckline, Spectacular!

howl at the Half Moon, Ah-oooh!

This style of manicure has been a craze of mine for years now. I'm not sure I will ever get over it.
I adore the idea of the alternative to the exaggerated tips. The half moon mani does just the same but instead, enhances and exaggerates the natural white arch that appears at the beds of your nails.
It's genius yet so simple. I never knew this until I googled images of the look but Dita Von Teese is apparently quite famous for her nails which in every picture I see of her, she got da moons bro!

So that is a tad disappointing that it can't be my thing when I'm famous but that's alright. I hope to be famous for a little more than a manicure in my lifetime, anyway.

Hear are some examples of the howling sexy Half Moon:
big classic black and white

Dita and her iconic fingertips or should i say 'nailbeds'

looks like Dior, but I'm not sure

as you can see, red and white is popular..
and this one has tips too, which I like.

plum and white, lovely.

Personally, I think the best colour combinations are the contrasting ones
eg. dark vs light. It's up to you though, whatever takes your fancy pants.

These are the stickers for DIYs. I've never seen them in stores which is annoying but I kind of just attempt to make my own out of masking tape which usually turns out surprisingly successful.

So go on and give it a go, it is so much more interesting than just plain tips and it will earn you many compliments as long as it doesn't look like you did  the job blindfolded.

MEGA Mix

What I love about this trend is that the only way you can go at it incorrectly is if your outift works too well or if it is over colour co-ordinated. This style is all about mixing and matching colours, textures,, tones, prints, patterns and styles. So if you think your outfit isn't looking right, it might just be perfect without you even realising it.
